By fragmenting bodies and architecture, I explore how we construct our environment and ourselves, linking personal histories to cultural displacement.
Yeni Mao

Yeni Mao (b. 1971, Guelph, Canada) is a sculptor based in Mexico City whose work investigates fragmentation through cyborg-like assemblages merging body and architecture. Using materials such as steel, ceramic, and leather, Mao’s practice explores themes of restraint, domination, and cultural hybridity, often layering personal and family mythologies. He holds a BFA from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago and has exhibited internationally.
