Clouds (Blue) situates Skats within a long lineage of sky-painting — from Courbet’s seascapes to Richter’s cloud series and the brooding atmospheres of August Strindberg. Yet Skats approaches the sky not as vista but as a place of interiority. The clouds shift between materiality and dissolution, blurring the threshold between abstraction and representation.
