Sola Olulode
Sola Olulode (b. 1996) is based in London and received her BA in Fine Art Painting from the University of Brighton in 2018. Sola Olulode is a British-Nigerian artist whose paintings and textural canvases explore the fluidity of identities and the lived experiences of Black Queer Womxn and non-binary individuals. Working across mediums such as natural dyes, wax, ink, pastel, oil bar, and impasto, her work transforms personal and collective narratives into immersive, tender, and utopian scenes. Olulode’s practice foregrounds intimacy, movement, and gesture, creating spaces where queer love and identity are celebrated and represented. She has exhibited internationally in prestigious institutions and galleries, including Lisson Gallery (London), Carl Freedman Gallery (Margate), Sapar Contemporary (New York), and Berntson Bhattacharjee Gallery (London). Her work is held in notable collections, such as Columbia University and the Smithsonian Institute.
