Zhang Shangfeng
Zhang Shangfeng is a Chinese painter whose work investigates the psychological and mythological dimensions of the human figure. Focusing primarily on male protagonists, his paintings depict adventurers caught in moments of trance and contemplation, suspended between action and inaction. Zhang’s work balances narrative intensity with formal restraint, emphasizing the expressive potential of posture, gesture, and hand movement. He has exhibited internationally in Beijing, Shanghai, Hangzhou, London, and Seoul, with notable solo exhibitions including The Discourse of Neo-Mythmaking at BONIAN SPACE, Beijing (2025).
