In Interval (Radiant), Paolo Arao pushes the boundaries of his textile research toward a monumental and totemic dimension, using hand-woven cotton and wool to create a chromatic column of great visual impact.
The work develops vertically for over two meters, presenting a rhythmic sequence of color blocks—vibrant red, ochre, turquoise, and black—intertwining in a complex asymmetrical checkerboard. The structure is characterized by an almost architectural dynamism, where the central section extends beyond the lateral edges, ending in exposed fringes—an element that emphasizes the handcrafted and process-oriented nature of the work.
The title "Radiant" perfectly reflects the luminous energy emitted by the color combination, transforming this installation into a powerful visual signal that bridges the ancient tradition of weaving with the aesthetics of radical geometric abstraction.
