We are immersed in an era in which folklore is analyzed through new keys, which also inevitably pass through the analysis of human behavior in digital communication, so much so that for ethnographer Trevor J. Blank, viral phenomena are "a Litmus test of how we react to the most significant events of our present."
The appropriation and remix of contents are modes of production and sharing that have become licit, defining a way of enjoying the world today that makes possible a significant boost to the interpretation of the information itself. Art picked up on this sprawling trend as early as the 1980s, becoming today a phenomenon innate in human nature.
Italian critic and curator, Achille Bonito Oliva states that today's art is the accumulation of dross in a clogged space. Perhaps the artist is the only one who, perceiving the contradictions of the present, notices this congestion, who consciously reworks the dross and debris of contemporaneity, bringing value by defining new memories and building the basis for imagining New Origins, making us believe: what will be the new level?
