The Pine and the Moon
Sebastián Hidalgo
Andrea Festa Fine Art is pleased to announce The Pine and the Moon, the first solo exhibition in Italy by Mexican artist Sebastián Hidalgo. On view from October 18 to November 30, 2023, the exhibition features a new series of works that explore inner landscapes, dream states, and the subtle relationships between memory, matter, and mind.
Working across drawing and painting, Hidalgo’s visual language is defined by its mutable and intuitive nature. Using traditional materials—oil, charcoal, canvas, wood, and paper—he crafts a world that hovers between the surreal and the contemplative. The works presented in The Pine and the Moon gravitate around symbolic and natural forms such as trees, skies, and celestial bodies, anchoring abstract explorations in timeless imagery.
“My practice is an open and mutable process, animated by intuition,” Hidalgo writes. “It is about change and materialization, in order to find a beginning, to open possibilities.”
Through techniques that blend sensory experimentation with conceptual inquiry, Hidalgo generates a body of work steeped in quiet mysticism and psychedelic undertones. His landscapes are not representations of the external world, but rather inner terrains—mental and emotional spaces that reflect a deep engagement with the poetic and the metaphysical.
The Pine and the Moon continues Andrea Festa Fine Art's exploration of contemporary approaches to landscape and introspection, placing Hidalgo’s delicate yet conceptually rich works within an ongoing dialogue about perception, transformation, and the unseen forces that shape our experience.
