The title of the exhibition, First Sight, is inspired by a passage from the science fiction novel Far from the Silent Planet, by C.S. Lewis:
“He looked around, but the very intensity of the desire to embrace the whole new world with a glance confused his vision. He distinguished only colors: colors that refused to consolidate into objects. For that matter, he could not see well what he did not yet know, for to see a thing one must know approximately what it is.”

Giordani connects with the concept of “first sight” to evoke the disorienting moment of encountering an uncharted land, where the nature of what appears is not yet clear. The artist investigates the innate impulse of human beings to interpret the unknown through familiar perspectives.
Silvia Giordani's paintings, made mainly with acrylic and oil on canvas, explore imaginary and remote landscapes, devoid of any human trace, dominated by a nature that takes on unusual shapes and colors, whose subject matter eludes clear classification. One of the most distinctive features of his work is the use of color and chromatic openings within his landscapes, which seem to act as gateways or portals to other dimensions. Her compositions lead the viewer to reflect on one's position in relation to the world, suspended between inside and outside, above and below, or between different realities.

Silvia Giordani's poetics is thus developed through a continuous exploration of the boundaries between different worlds, real and imaginary, creating landscapes that offer the viewer a new perspective on the relationship between nature, space and time.
