Between what has just happened and what is about to happen, Carlotta Mazzariol’s paintings hold time in suspension, transforming everyday spaces into scenes of attentive observation.
Sala Nova presents The Cat is Under the Table, a solo exhibition by Carlotta Mazzariol.
The exhibition moves along the threshold between the familiar and the elusive, staging domestic and outdoor spaces—gardens, courtyards, terraces—where narrative remains suspended. The works originate from a constellation of sources: personal photographic archives, lived and remembered places, fragments found online, and painterly invention. Through a patch-based painting method—free yet carefully governed—figures, objects, and atmosphere merge into compositions marked by quiet tension. The exhibition invites slow looking, drawing attention to traces, residues, and presences that appear only indirectly.
